How To Eat Healthy On A Student Budget |4 Tips To Eat Healthy But Still Save Some Money|
Being a student myself, it's hard to have a good healthy meals because most of the time, i'm trying to save more money and to do that i tend to cut a lot of my expenses; and that include foods.
However, a few months back, i realize that i could eat a good meal and healthy foods even without using most of my spending money by planning carefully. So here, i will share with you my four tips to eat decent, healthy and good foods without wasting too much of money on it.
In the first few semester when i was in Uni, my budget kind of goes haywire. I know absolute nothing to budgeting or meal planning or finances, how to save money and etcetera.
That was the biggest mistakes that i made while in uni. But that mistakes also made who i am today. We learn through mistakes.
So, first is you must make sure how much you can spend in a week for foods. For me, i eat foods only to life, not for enjoyment or trying out things. I put priorities first. My budget was around 50 to 60 ringgit per week on foods. That is enough to buy necessary groceries. I often buy mine at speedmart.
However, if you can cut cost for other expenses and put it into meals, you can get to eat a bit more high end meals, i guess. But of course it all depends on you
This is one of my always to do things when i got home for holidays. My home is 8 hours away by bus and yes it is far, but i manage to bring back with me basic necessities (onions, garlic, cans food, corn, sugar, rice etc). And often, my mom and my older sister always cook meat and chicken that could keep for longer time.
So, by doing this, i just got myself a supply for a couple of weeks to survive life at Uni.
Buying in a big quantities is always better and it save money a lot. For examples, my housemates and i sometimes buy in bulk if there is offers or discounts. We could buy veggies or fruits or other basic things.
For me myself, i did not eat a lot in a day. My full meals was only one time and if often in lunch time. And then my next full meals would be tomorrow. But i do snacking on dried fruits like dates, apricot or strawberries. I didn't do a lot of energetic things in a day, so eating only once is enough for me.
For people who doing intermittent fasting, they will know that. At first it might be hard, but with time, your body will get used to it.
I have been doing this four things since 2 years ago. It do help me a lot to save but at the same time, still be able to eat decently. So, if you have another tips how you survive college or Uni, feel free to write in the comment section. Thank you for reading my post, and see again in next post.
